Celebrating the "1000-Hour Celebration" with Local Flavors at Mercure Bali Sanur Resort
Mercure's “1000-Hour Celebration” program was created to commemorate the opening of the 1000th Mercure hotel by offering exclusive menus and experiences across the entire hotel network for 1000 hours, from November 1 to December 13. Each Mercure hotel is required to add special items to their breakfast, bar, or restaurant menus in collaboration with local suppliers to create seasonal menus that reflect the unique culinary heritage of the area. This program also emphasizes sustainability by prohibiting single-use plastics and introducing eco-friendly activities such as cooking classes, wine tastings, or local market visits. Beyond offering a unique experience for guests, Mercure also uses this celebration to increase team engagement through activities like group drinks, team-building events, and potluck gatherings.
At Mercure Bali Sanur Resort, this celebration is enriched by two special local dishes:
Srombotan and
Bubur Sumsum. Srombotan is a Balinese specialty consisting of various vegetables such as water spinach, long beans, spinach, and bean sprouts, served with a distinctive sauce called "kalas" – a blend of coconut milk, turmeric, galangal, and other Balinese spices. Its fresh and spicy taste makes it a perfect choice for a healthy breakfast packed with fiber and nutrients. Meanwhile, Bubur Sumsum is a soft rice flour porridge served with liquid palm sugar. Its soft texture and sweet taste make it an ideal option to start the day with a warm and traditional Balinese touch.
These special items are available only for 1000 hours, or 42 days, as part of this celebration, offering guests the opportunity to enjoy authentic local flavors. Additionally, priceless experiences are offered to VIP guests, such as gifts from local suppliers or exclusive activities, adding an extra touch of charm to this celebration. The "1000-Hour Celebration" not only combines local elements and sustainability but also enriches the guest experience with a unique touch of local culture.
